Tiger and Snowball- “Were waiting for their forever home...” 2000(?) - 2/2009 & 7/2009
While waiting for his forever home, Tiger succumbed to liver failure. Tiger, and his friend Snowball, came to the shelter when their owner got a new dog who started terrorizing them on a daily basis. The cats stopped using their litterbox so their owner surrendered them. Tiger’s gentle and loving nature made him a favorite of the staff and volunteers. Because of his sweet nature, he was trusted to roam about the shelter while we cleaned his cage. He was always appreciative of attention and enjoyed his pets. But he always made it back to his cage in time for feeding! Now the two friends are together forever. A few months later, in early July, Snowball passed away in his sleep. Snowball would spend his Saturday mornings roaming the shelter and getting into trouble. He’d often get caught rough-housing with Huey on Katie’s desk. Happy to be out of his cage, he’d let us know with a little growl that being returned to it was not in his game plan. But the bowl of waiting food quickly made him forget his annoyance. The shelter seems empty without them. We’ll remember then fondly, always.
